What is ReliaCard?

ReliaCard is the safe and convenient Unemployment Debit Card by U.S. Bank for receiving Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefit payments. The U.S. Bank ReliaCard makes receiving your unemployment payments quick and easy – funds are automatically deposited onto your Unemployment Debit Card and can be used to make purchases anywhere VISA and MasterCard debit cards are accepted.

What states use ReliaCard for Unemployment benefit payments?

Currently, ReliaCard is the electronic payment system for Unemployment benefits in 15 states. The states that use ReliaCard for unemployment payments include:

How does ReliaCard work?

ReliaCard for unemployment benefits allows you to pay bills and make purchases in-store, online, and by phone or mail with your unemployment cash benefits.

In addition, your ReliaCard can be used to get free cash back with purchases anywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted. You can also get cash back with purchases at participating merchants or withdraw cash at ATMs, banks or credit unions.

How do I activate my ReliaCard for Unemployment?

You can activate your ReliaCard and access your unemployment benefit payments online or through the mobile application.

To activate your card on the ReliaCard website, choose “Activate Card” at the top of the page.

To activate your card from the mobile app, visit the App Store or Google Play to download the mobile app. Then, choose “Setup Online Access/Activate New Card”.

In some cases, you may receive your ReliaCard before the funds are loaded to the card. If this is the case, your Unemployment Debit Card will receive funds within 2-3 business days after your state agency has approved your claim.

You can monitor the status of your claim and payments by checking your state’s website. Additionally, you can enroll in text message or email alerts to be notified when your unemployment benefits have been deposited.

How do I check my ReliaCard balance?

There are four ways to check your ReliaCard balance for unemployment – by phone, email, in-person, and online.

Additionally, you can sign up for Text and Email balance alerts for your ReliaCard Unemployment Debit Card.

To check your unemployment benefits balance by phone, call the ReliaCard phone number at 855-282-6161 to access their automated system.

Where is my ReliaCard?

If you have not received your ReliaCard in the mail, you can track your Unemployment Debit Card on the ReliaCard website. ReliaCard provides an online tracker that you can use to get an update on your Unemployment Debit Card. You can access the ReliaCard Tracker online at www.usbankreliacard.com/card-order-status-tracker.

How do I use the ReliaCard Tracker?

To use the ReliaCard Tracker and find out where your Unemployment Debit Card, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the ReliaCard website at www.usbankreliacard.com.
  2. Access the ReliaCard Tracker.
  3. Select your State Program from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your Date of Birth.
  5. Enter your Social Security Number (SSN).
  6. Click the blue “Submit” button to get the status of your ReliaCard.

How do I set-up ReliaCard alerts?

ReliaCard alerts are the best way to monitor activity on your Unemployment Debit Card. You can sign up to receive email or text message alerts for low balances, deposits, transactions and more.

To sign up for email or text alerts, follow the prompts when you activate your card. Additionally, you can sign-up for alerts via the cardholder website at usbankreliacard.com or by using the ReliaCard mobile app from your phone.

You can also sign up for ReliaCard alerts by texting “90831” with one of the following codes:

  • For your Unemployment balance, text “BAL”.
  • To get your recent transactions, text “TRANS”.
  • For additional help, text “HELP” for customer service.

Can I pay bills with my ReliaCard?

Yes, you can pay bills using your ReliaCard. To do so, follow the steps provided below:

  1. Visit the usbankreliacard.com website and login to your online account.
  2. Click the “Manage Money” option in the top menu.
  3. Select the “Pay Bills” option.
  4. Choose the company you would like to pay from the list. If you can’t find the company, you can manually enter the company name by selecting the “Add a Payee” option.
  5. Enter the payment amount and select a payment date.
  6. Click the “Review and Pay” button to submit your payment.

If you are paying a mortgage or rent payment, please schedule your payment at least five-business days before the due date. This is to ensure your payment is received prior to the due date.

How to unlock ReliaCard?

If your ReliaCard is locked and you cannot access your unemployment benefit payments, visit the ReliaCard website at usbankreliacard.com and upload your ID with a photo of yourself. Your identity will be verified and card unblocked within 1-2 business days.

ReliaCard blocked – what do I do?

If your ReliaCard has been blocked due to potential fraud, there are two ways you can unblock your account – by phone or computer. You can use either method to submit the requested verification documentation to unblock your ReliaCard account and access your unemployment funds.

The quickest way is to use your mobile device to log in to verify.usbank.com/id. Then, upload a picture of your government-issued ID and a selfie. They’ll verify your identity and remove the block within one to two business days.

How to Unblock ReliaCard Online

You may also remove the block on the cardholder website.

  1. Log in to your ReliaCard account.
  2. Select “Document Upload” under Quick Links.
  3. Select “Account Restriction – Need Additional Information“.
  4. Press the “Begin” button.
  5. Upload all of the required documents listed in the instructions.

How long does is take to have my ReliaCard unblocked?

It may take up to five business days to unlock your account by uploading your documents via the cardholder website.

Why is my ReliaCard account is still blocked after five business days?

Your account may still be blocked because they could not read your upload or perhaps you didn’t submit all of the required information. We know this is frustrating, but please try verifying your information again.

Why is my ReliaCard not working?

If your ReliaCard is not working that could be because it has been blocked by U.S. Bank for your protection.

Can you withdraw cash from ReliaCard?

Yes, you can withdraw cash from your ReliaCard account by getting cash back when you make a purchase anywhere Visa® or MasterCard® Debit Cards are accepted. You can also withdraw cash from ReliaCard at an

  • You can use your card to make purchases anywhere Visa® and Mastercard® debit cards are accepted.

Why is my ReliaCard declining?

Your ReliaCard may be declining because you do not have enough unemployment funds to cover the transaction you are trying to make. If your card is declining, please first check the balance of your ReliaCard and try using two forms of payment.

Your ReliaCard may also be declining because it has been blocked due to potential fraudulent activity. If this is the case, please contact the ReliaCard customer service phone number at 855-282-6161.

What is the ReliaCard Account and Routing Number?

Currently, ReliaCard for unemployment benefits does not have an account or routing number. The issuing bank, U.S. Bank is the only source that can load funds onto your ReliaCard.

How do I get a ReliaCard replacement?

If you need a new ReliaCard for receiving unemployment payments, you can request a replacement card by contacting customer service.

For help requesting a replacement ReliaCard, follow the steps below:

Forgot ReliaCard PIN – What should I do?

If you forgot your 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your ReliaCard Unemployment Debit Card, please call the customer service phone number listed on the back of your card at 855-282-6161. You will be able to reset your ReliaCard PIN by using the automated system.

Please note that your card may be locked if you make too many attempts with the incorrect PIN.
